Darlene and I began our summer trek yesterday. We drove from Florence to Yuma, AZ where we spent the night. This morning we drove the remaining 250 miles to our Wilderness Lakes Thousand Trails campground in Menifee, CA. Off and on, we will spend about ten weeks her, interspersed with about six weeks within a hundred miles of here. We’ll be in southern CA until the first week in September when we return to our RV home base in Florence. |

After a 70-mile drive we are at the South 40 RV Park just north of Marysvalle, Utah on US-89. Were here two years ago. Great park, wonderful owners and ATV rides galore out of the park, as well as ones further out that we’ll take the truck to the trail heads. Looking forward to two nice weeks of relaxing, geo-caching and ATV exploring. We’ll be here until the 30th of June, when we will head to Salt Lake City. |

18 June (Tue): Little Creek RV Park, Alto, NM, until Friday. Our 304-mile drive from Amarillo was somewhat trying given the almost 4,000’ elevation gain, strong winds, temps in the 90s, and over 35 miles of 3rd and 4th gear work on a two-lane blacktop, a real test of the Time Bandit and her crew which we all passed with flying colors. We stopped at Chili’s in Roswell for lunch with a mate from my ski patrol days in Sun Valley, ID, and will now spend time with friends who have proved up a place near here. |

We are volunteering for the summer at Bonita Park Camp near Capitan, NM. It was badly burned in June 2012 by the Little Bear fire. 123 homes and cabins on the camp grounds were destroyed along with several buildings (gym, RV park restroom, maintenance building, several bunkhouses and a chapel) All but one staff member lost their home but they are very resilient and and back in business with new mobile homes that they moved into in Mar or Apr. They need more volunteers though as there is much to do. |
