Got back to Star Valley Sunday morning after over-heating problems. We unhooked the Tahoe and Pat didn’t have any problems then. Had a great 3 days in the Black Hills with the grandsons, took a raft trip down the Snake River on Monday and then took them to SLC on Tuesday to catch a flight back home to Phoenix. Went to a diesel shop today and they steam cleaned the radiator and found a loose belt on the water pump...hopefully that will solve the problem. Kinda quiet around here without the boys!

17 Jul (Tue): Ouray, CO. Today Rubi J, our tricked out Jeep Rubicon, took us down “Black Bear”, rated “Extremely dangerous one-way ledge trail cut into solid rock, 1,000’ drop offs.” In 1.6 miles “as the crow flies” we lost 4,263’ via rock ledges, 2’+ “steps” & severe switchbacks requiring forward and reverse shifting to complete. I do “steering & gearing”, Nancy operates Rubi J’s off road systems & acts as spotter. Rubi J said, “I was born to do this.” Nancy told her, “Maybe so, but once was enough.”

Well, I made it to my Destination. it only took about 6 days and that was rushing it. The daytime temps are in the 80s, humidity in the low 40s. I think I’ll take the next several months off. I’m out in the middle of nowhere close to Bryce Canyon National Park. Can’t ask for a better place to be for the next several months.

We signed up for Hughesnet Gen5 mobile and now have 75 gigs a month for $160, coast to coast, 40 Mbps. Hit the road for the season in late March, now southeast of Glacier National Park in Hungry Horse Reservoir. Headed for the Beartooth next; staying cool at altitude.
