Winchester Bay, OR, what the locals call the crab capital of Oregon and home to the tallest dunes on the coast. Highlight of our stop in Gold Beach was our 104 mile jet boat tour on the Rogue River with our friends. Enjoyed it more than I thought, wet buns and all. A more sedate day trip was a visit to Cape Blanco Lighthouse and short hike to see the largest Myrtle tree all rounded out with lunch at one of Carl’s picks. Seems our visits are grounded by food.

It was a beautiful day to drive up the coast after we cleared the fog going over the mountain out of Klamath. The Pacific Ocean was in view much of the time, especially when we got into Oregon. However, the wind gusts coming off the ocean were brutal. Those gusts really move our 30,000 pound motorhome and it takes lots of focus to keep it between the lines. We are in Coos Bay, Oregon at the Mill Casino & RV Park. We will be here through the July 4th weekend.
