Bend, OR, dubbed the ’outdoor playground of the West’ and on many ’Best Of’ lists. Portland, aka Rose City, was fun with good music, food, weather, beautiful gardens. Made a 9 hour day trip on the Mt.Hood-Columbia River Gorge Loop stopping at the historical handcrafted Timberline Lodge where Carl rode the Magic Mile Skyride to the top in an open chairlift...not my favorite. Our drive continued thru patchwork vineyards and along the Columbia River where we watched hundreds of sailboard enthusiasts.
